Tewe "Te" Henare
We highly recommend tapping people on the shoulder when you’re out and about. It’s a great way to meet your community. We were very happy to meet Te. We see him around a lot. He also likes a sauna at the Icebergs but we have never spoken until now. And as usually happens in a community like this, we had lots of people in common.
"Melanie from the Bondi Observer caught me in a quiet moment mid-morning. I was sitting in front of my garage with a coffee from Jack’s, having already finished my morning loop—a 5:30am a walk along the promenade, a 6am coffee at Gusto with the regulars, and my session at the Icebergs.
Bondi has been my home for many years, but since an accident in 2020, it has become my sanctuary. At 57, this routine is my essential medicine—a way to navigate the permanent physical reality of neck and back injuries. It is a deliberate, non-negotiable reset; a moment for my mind and body to meet in honest acknowledgment before the day begins. For me, the ocean offers a rhythm that doesn't ask for words; it’s about finding that alignment and staying present in the place I love. Melanie saw me in that moment of reset, and I was happy to share a bit of the quiet."
