Muir Leggett
Muir Leggett
What is it about the Scots? We have met more than one keen swimmer who has come from that part of the world which you don’t think of as producing people who like to get into the water. But there you go. (We’ll stop stereotyping now).
Anyway, we got chatting with Muir in the sauna recently, and wanted to know how he came to be living here. He is very friendly (like the Scots tend to be, we’ll really stop stereotyping NOW).
“I took what I thought was a year out after school 😂😂 to travel however I started picking grapes at a winery in WA and I have been in the game ever since.
Work took me from Perth to Melbourne then up to sunny Sydney where I have been navigating various channels of wine and spirits distribution both locally and internationally.
I have been Bondi bound for over 10 years now into my 20 years living in this glorious country.
My morning routine is to roll out of bed and stumble to the coffee machine where I splash out a long black. I’ll then sip my coffee whilst watching the morning news and responding to some emails received overnight from international clients.
This is the crucial part - donning my budgies and heading off to the bergs for a lap of the bay (conditions permitting) [Ed: see what we mean?] or the pool followed by a social sauna session with the gang and another coffee in the sun trap that is the bergs cafe.
There is no better way to kick start your day in my opinion.
My 75 year old Mum had been having health issues and as it’s only the two of us I was travelling back to Scotland very regularly which prompted the decision to bring her out here. That was 18 months ago and I believe it’s been a game changer for the both of us but most importantly for her health. She certainly has her moments as it’s not easy to uproot and change your lifestyle at the age of 74. However, I feel she is enjoying it. She is certainly much more social, she loves walking up Bondi Road chatting to people along the way.”
