Lola Giuffré at SMACH
Lola, who we’ve known VERY well for a long time (30 years, 6 months and 4 days to be precise) is a Bondi girl who left 10 years ago to study in the Netherlands. She should have been back 2 years later but as these things happen 10 years have slipped by. Love, mechanical engineering, jewellery and art making are mostly responsible for that delay.
If anyone is wondering what has happened to Bondi Observer lately we have been visiting Lola and to see for ourselves her latest project which is pictured above. Lola was selected as one of ten artists to install an artwork as part of the SMACH Biennale 2025 in the Dolomites in Italy. See HERE to watch a short video of Lola explaining SWAY.
Lola’s first public art installation was back in 2004 when, as a nine year old, she was was one the artists exhibiting in Sculpture by the Sea. She, with the help of friends from school and family installed a 1.5 kilometre daisy chain. See some images below and on her Studio Lola website HERE.
There seems to be a nice link between the two pieces.
