Daphne and Viktoria

At first we thought these two must be related but as usual we were wrong. They became close friends when they were neighbours on Lamrock Avenue and continue to be now that Viktoria moved to the north end of the beach.

Daphne:

“I have an early start to my day with a morning run. I have been running for a long time now and love the solitude of the early morning. But recently I made a change. My neighbours dog Jerry, a young cattle dog-kelpie cross, full of enthusiasm, now joins me. At first, I wasn’t sure if I wanted company, relishing that small window of time when I’m alone. But Jerry has brought a lovely joy to the morning and we run easily together, under the stars, the sky lightening and the horizon appearing and the dawn colours.  And sometimes it is rainy and windy and cold and invigorating . We finish back in Bondi and a play with the ball and other lucky dogs enjoying their early start to the day.

Viktoria:

“Originally from Switzerland, I lived in LA, Barcelona and Rome before finding my way to Bondi Beach in January 2017. Now I call Ben Buckler home where I live with my little cat Prana, (Daphne is Prana’s god-mother) whom I rescued as a stray kitten in Sydney’s CBD four years ago. I love the beach life and I take every opportunity to jump into the ocean.
For the past seven years, I have been offering sound healing events in Bondi and other places around Sydney, as well as private sessions, creating spaces where people can release stress, reconnect with their hearts and recharge their energy.

I also work for a Swiss animal welfare organisation as I am passionate about helping animals in need. Several times a year, my work takes me into the bush of the Northern Territory, where I manage Australia’s largest wild horse sanctuary,
Bonrook, protecting the Brumbies — a project founded over 40 years ago by the Swiss ecologist Franz Weber.”
