About Bondi Observer

Bondi Observer, founded in 2015 as Bondi Fresh Daily by longtime Bondi local Melanie Giuffré (yellow hat), is a blog that celebrates the people, spirit and cultural diversity of Bondi – with a particular focus on the beach.

Every morning Melanie walks with husband Remo and their dog Olive from their home at the north end of the beach to the Bondi Icebergs pool at the south end. There they stop for a sauna, a swim and some coffee (or, in Melanie’s case, a turmeric latte with oat milk and cinnamon). Over the course of that daily routine Melanie gets to chat with a wide variety of people: friends and strangers, regulars and newbies, locals and visitors, princes and paupers.

Bondi Observer represents her ongoing work to capture that wild diversity in an authentic way – so that the community can effectively get to know itself.

Two or three times a week, Melanie sends an email with fresh posts to the Bondi Observer mailing list.
