The promenade and Bondi Pavilion gallery (as well as the Paddington Reservoir) are currently being transformed into a ”photographic wonderland”, a celebration of local and international photographic artists in all forms of the medium for the 2026 Head On Photo Festival.
Head On Foundation is Australia’s premier non-profit organisation for photography, producing the esteemed annual Head On Photo Festival in Sydney and a year-round program of events and collaborative projects. Since 2004, the festival has exhibited over 5,000 photographic artists across Sydney, Australia and overseas and awarded over $1,000,000 in cash and prizes to emerging and established photographers.

Faces of Bondi
The Faces of Bondi, a Waverley Council/ Head On initiative, is a growing digital community artwork that is made up of the characters and familiar faces that shape our unique community. You can take part in Bondi’s living portrait by submitting a portrait or selfie HERE.
Bondi Observer, via its spin-off book Love, Bondi, has been invited to collaborate on the Faces of Bondi project. Come and see our installation in the foyer of the Pavilion across from the gallery (thrilling!).
Also, come and visit us at the Head On Photobook & Zine Market on Sunday 8 November at the Pavilion between 12 and 5pm.
The official launch of this photographic extravaganza is this evening. If you want to get among some of Sydney’s top creatives at the Bondi Pavilion this evening you can still buy tickets for the opening event HERE.
