Antonia Gausachs
It was such a treat meeting Antonia. Firstly she is delightful but also because she’s a runner and if a runner is running you can’t tap them on the shoulder to get a photo and their story.
Antonia told us about runners’ etiquette. If you see someone you know and you’d like a chat, you turn around (if necessary) and run with them. At their pace. Good to learn something new.
“My husband and I moved to Sydney, from Melbourne, four years ago. On our first week as official Sydneysiders, a friend that knew us from our water polo days suggested that we join him and a few (hundred) friends for an ocean swim on Friday morning. This marked our very first swim with Salties and the beginning of a deep fascination with the ocean. Ever since that first Friday, we’ve swam every week that we’ve been in town, summer or winter, rain or shine. Our Saturday morning routine is basically a religion at this point, consisting of a group swim from North Bondi to Bronte (and sometimes a swim back), followed by coffee at Jack’s and the Goodweekend quiz with friends before grabbing a bite to eat at the markets.
I’m excited about the summer and getting back into surf lifesaving for the season.”
Louis Wheeler
Louis had just arrived on the red-eye from Perth. He was in the FO phase of his FIFO work in Western Australia and had a week to enjoy Sydney with Bondi being first on the list.
He was having his breakfast that he had made for himself the night before. Organised.

Some people just know how to do it. It’s the guy on the couch we’re thinking of.
