Zac Zinn

Zac Zinn

We have known Zac Zinn (the man with the greatest name around) for many years. We have seen him grow from a baby into the smart, empathetic and crazy interesting person he has become.

You may have come across his dynamic and energetic Scribble Mouth Instagram page where he answers the questions you might not have realised you wanted to ask. For instance, on his most recent post he asks “if you just kept zooming in forever… how far could you go?” (We’re now keen to finish this post and get back to the answer).

You should get on board, almost 500,000 people already have.

His Scribble Mouth creations caught the eyes and ears of the powers that be at the ABC where he now works part time as a science and philosophy creator, producer and presenter

What is your Bondi story?

“My earliest memories involve being at Bondi from the age of 2 or 3 - although people don't believe I can remember that far back… but I can.

It took me a while to realise most people don't grow up at the beach. Yes, I know it sounds so privileged, but it wasn't ignorance of the fact that most people don't live within a convenient geographical distance from the coast - it was more of an emotional ignorance.

My relationship with the beach is so different. It's not a special occasion - it's second nature. And hence, I utilise every corner of the beach from swimming, surfing, snorkelling, walking around rocks, pretty much anything BUT sitting on the sand for hours.

Now, I had left Bondi for six years to live one year in the Northern Rivers and five years in Melbourne, and boy has it changed. It feels like influencer paradise, and that honestly makes me uncomfortable. Which is ironic, because I somehow found myself lined up for a career as an influencer too. I make science and philosophy videos for my channel ScribbleMouth, which through a strange turn of fate has brought me right back to the heart of Sydney, Bondi Beach, where I’ve been giving my IP away to Aunty ABC.

It’s great to be back, and while the culture has changed a lot over the years, the beach itself - with its sand, cliffs, rocks, and especially the ocean - will still be standing here long after any human has gone.”

How do you spend the first hour of your day?

“I'd like to say I wake up and exercise at the beach, then swim and sip on a strong latte, but that's only me on my best days.

Right now, I'm skipping the exercise and the swim first thing in the morning and going straight to dessert… I mean coffee, where I just sit and admire the view of Bondi.”

Is there one thing you’d like people to know about you?

“I've found success in a creative pursuit, which is what so many of us dream of. I'm eternally grateful, yet, I thought it would make me happy, but I realise now that all I actually care about in life is being with my friends - who I so dearly miss back in Melbourne.”
