We sort of knew about Pat from when he had his surf shop Sunburnt Mess on Gould Street. Our son was a regular.

It was very nice to meet him properly as he was checking the morning surf a few days ago.

“If I’m not getting my son ready for school, I will usually check what the waves are doing first thing. If they’re any good, I try to have a surf before work. If not, I like to grab a coffee from Depot or makuto and bump into a friend or 2 for a quick chat. Simple pleasures.”
